Excellent which trumpet is it?
Stomvi Titan Eb/D 4 Valve Edition
Cornet in high G is pretty sick, you guys ever thought of making a G Soprano Bugle? It’s like a trumpet in low G but with a big bore, big bell, and HUGE bell throat
Thanks for commenting. At this point in time our plate is more than full with all the horns we have. A "G" bugle is possible in the future, of course, but is not on our list right now. Have great gigs!
My teacher in middle school. So many years ago.
Will the presentation be record and for us to watch? Is Javier coming out with a book on the lead pipe playing?
A great trumpet player and gentlemen.
Hy! Sir, I have to say a lot’s of thanks for this demo. I definitely need up-sound . For me the lead pipe practice isn’t easy. A special difficulty is getting hayer notes. Seems up sound makes it more easy and the fingers moving warms them up too…
I hope this is going to be filmed.
Hi Mark! I'm gonna throw up a camera and hopefully the conference will film as well. Looking forward to this as it's gonna be fun for sure!
Always interesting stuff, K.O.!! My college teacher always said the best trumpeters he ever played with are always the guys that show up to the session 5 minutes late, start telling jokes and annoying everyone, then they borrow your valve oil because they don't have any and don't warm up at all and then the first downbeat hits and they just proceed to blow the roof off the place for the next couple of hours. He said they if you ask them what they are playing, it's usually just a Bach 37 that they bought used and they are just playing the mouthpiece that was in the case when they bought it. There's a lot to what your are saying K.O. At a certain point you just have to use your ears, practice efficiently and then just play. On the other hand, I think there is a certain "something" to certain ideas about horns and mouthpieces that have merit, to a point, but it's they aren't every really going to replace talent, musicality and a pile of practice. Thanks, K.O. !!
Hi Steve, I agree with all you say. To me the goal is to make your equipment as transparent as possible so you can focus on the music, not the mechanics of playing. That's why I continue to do my best to advance the trumpet and mouthpiece. After all anything new I come up with I get to be the first to use!
Have fun guys! Javier, stop making the rest of us look so bad!! 😅
Can't wait to see your presentation and try your gear!
Any chance the seminar will be recorded for those of us who can't go?
Hi James - we're working on getting a decent video and will publish it online when we do.
¡Súper sonido!
I could watch this 100 times and I would still learn something new! Thank you, K.O. and Walt!!
Not enough chops. 😂
A new star + nice educator!
There were 5 names in the Tom Stevens video: Louis Davidson George Mager Nathan Prager James Stamp William Vacchiano
In the late 80's after a radical dental procedure, I couldn't play any more. I went to a colleague who was a student of a particular Swedish educator/performer and well known as an "embouchure" doctor. I ws with this gentleman, for a total of 18 months. We did Stamp from the book. I never could free buzz, that it transfers 1:1 to the mouthpiece - it always dropped around a fourth or fifth. Despite this not working properly, we went on to mouthpiece buzzing - could never buzz more than an octave and a half. And when putting the mouthpiece into the horn, it too did not transfer pitch wise, dropping a good fifth or so and sound absolutely awful. During these last 6 months, my anger never got about a fifth line f, sounded horrid, and as time went on, my throat started tighten ing up, to the point I had to quit playing trumpet. 10 years later, I decided to try playing again, but not trumpet. So I took up trombone in 1991, took lessons with a colleague and we did no buzzing whatsoever. None. We first found my tonal home-base and went step-by-step upwards and downwards, doing a similar exercise to Vince Chicowiz's Air-Flow studies. I only went one step high when I got the same good sound as the previous best note. 1996 I was far enough along, that I passed my performance recital for a teaching certificate on tenor trombone and euphonium. Right after getting my certificate, I switched to bass trombone, started a trombone quartett that stayed together for almost 20 years, Got a job in a local symphony orchestra. I have never buzzed a note whilst a trombone player. I did concentrate on tone quality, everyday concentrically expanding my range from my home base going at the same time upstairs and downstairs. Although I'm retired from public playing, I still have a range from pedal d just above double pedal b-flat going up to c the third space treble clef. So my experience with the Stamp method was, that it didn't work for me to the point I couldn't play the trumpet any more. IOW - there is more than one way to skin a cat.
Good stuff, K.O., ! Thanks!
Yeah, figured it had to be Al Vizzutti. Cool story!
Every young trumpet player should watch this interview a few times.
Stomvi❤
Mouthpieces are like shoes. You don't go for a hike in the mountains on spikes, you use them for the 100m sprint. You don't play soccer wearing basketball shoes. If you play music, just like in sports, you shoe-up accordingly
My experience with these DaVinci mouthpieces is that my playing is now so much easier! Lightning response with expanded dynamic range with ease, , even slotting all the way up and down, superb intonation and huge beautiful sound. HUGE!! Crystal clear articulation. It's all just easier! For a comeback player like me my DaVinci mouthpiece is a game changer!! Thanks, K.O.!
Who's got them at tmea this year?
I will be there (K.O.) with an assortment of DaVinci’s and lots of Stomvi gear. We will be with our Texas dealer, Houghton Horns. Hope to see you there!
Qual a numeração do bocal que pancho usa?
On this clip Pacho was using a Stomvi Classic 0.5C
Fabulosa Linda es magnifica canta y toca como una Diosa.
Is it a big deference sound wise s3 silver vs brushed lacquer version?
Not a big difference. Some players perceive the silver plate as having a small increase in the treble, or brightness in the sound. I would recommend getting the brushed lacquer version if you prefer the look.

Bill sounds like a very practical-minded genius. It is rare for most folks to recognize analogies across disciplines and he was also able to apply that knowledge to develop a superior instrument. This video piqued my interest because I’m a geologist and have used a similar technique to measure shear wave velocity, shear modulus and porosity of earth materials through FFT analysis of background noise (seismicity), referred to as ReMi (refraction micro tremor analysis) and percolation theory (the way seismic waves propagate through a material). Thanks K. O. for sharing Bill’s knowledge!
Thanks for commenting. Your work sounds fascinating and I totally agree that few recognize cross discipline applications. When my Band, Reno Jones, started doing demo's with Meyer Sound (www.meyersound.com) Bill wanted to know all about the subwoofer arrays Meyer was using to "steer" the low frequencies of the PA. Bill told me he had used audio beam steering to locate oil in the ground back when he worked at Chevron. This caused a lightbulb to go on in my head. Seems like you're on the same plane which is way cool!
@@stomviusavideo Thanks K.O., we visited on Tuesday and my son picked up an S3BB. He’s loving it! Thank you for your help - our visit was the highlight of our week! Looking forward to following up with a mouthpiece once he’s gotten significant time on the new instrument. Cheers!
Very interesting presentation! We visited your shop Tuesday afternoon and picked up a great S3BB. Now I understand Ronnie’s comment that he was surprised trumpet playing could be so much easier than with his Yamaha. Very cool!
Love it. Good shake
Stomvi locked in much better and didn't pinch off like the Bach in the upper reg. JMO.
Looks a fairly clean Hardinge in the background, I've got the old narrow-bed myself.
I honestly can’t tell which horn I prefer. This guy could make a Bundy student model cornet sound amazing.
I have 3 davinci mouthpieces in different sizes. They all play and sound great. I was happy with my original flex pieces but these go way beyond. You won't be disappointed.
How is this not getting more attention?!
You are definitely taking steps in the right direction with the Flex trumpet mouthpieces! Easiest mouthpieces to play I've ever used.
Thanks, K.O.
He bought me drink in the Bellup,YOUR STILL A YOUNGMAN...😊
magnifico johnny
Excellent video.
Every Stomvi trumpet I've picked up has superior valves!!
RIP
Good stuff, K.O.!!
There is so much to learn here. I love the chance to just geek out about the trumpet!! Thanks, K.O.!
One of my favorite songs of all time and now my favorite version of it!!
Cool stuff! Thanks, K.O.!
Tremendous interview! The most interesting part to me was when you guys were talking about playing lead and playing in a section. To me that was always the goal in any band and the most fun was playing in a great section leading a great band. I was lucky to play in bands where we could "split" the lead. The beauty is that if you've got 2 or 3 guys to pass teh "lead" around between, you can also pass all the solos and everything else around the section. It makes things a ton of fun if you can play in a section that works like that! Thanks, K.O. to you and Walt for doing this interview. (I think you might have missed your calling as a talk show host or something, K.O.! You are a fantastic interviewer! But I'm really glad for all of us that you've been makeing mouthpieces and trumpets all these years, instead!)
I've just gone back and watched this video again. Wow. There is really a gold mine! I encourage everyone to watch this video at least 2 or 3 times. There is really so much here! Thanks, K.O.
Rest in peace.
